he Featherbed Nature Reserve, a unique 150 ha private Nature Reserve, encompasses the whole of the Western Head of Knysna and is one of South Africa’s Natural Heritage Sites.
It is a pristine piece of paradise and is home to two of the Garden Route’s icons, namely the Knysna Loerie and the Blue Duiker, one of Africa’s smallest antelope species. Other wildlife found on the Reserve include Cape mountain tortoises, Blue Cranes, Black Oyster Catchers, White Breasted Cormorant and bushbuck.
The proximity of the nature reserve to the Lake Brenton Resort offers the home owner a host of experiences to explore the mystery of nature and to unplug from the rest of the world. Where else could one have lunch with the majestic and brightly coloured Loerie under a canopy of milkwood trees; take a guided walk through the forests onto the sandstone cliffs and wander into ancient Khoi Khoi sea caves along a scenic coastal path fringed with aromatic Fynbos?
